Quest #8 - 2x2 Bricks Only

"Grab as many or as few 2x2 bricks and create anything you like. The only rule of this challenge is to use only 2x2 bricks. Here you can see what kids from all over the world made for this challenge." 

And upon this announcement our 10 year old has rushed off to the family room (AKA: the Lego room) to build!

Quest #7 Results - Spring

Quest #7 - Spring

"Spring is the transition period between winter and summer. It is seen as a time of growth, renewal and new life for both plants and animals. The axis of the Earth is increasing its tilt towards the sun, which warms the Earth and causes new plant growth. What does spring mean to you? Create something out of LEGO that reminds you of spring and tell me about it. Here are the wonderful spring inspired creations kids from around the world made for this challenge." -Lego Quest 

I'll just add that Spring also reminds us of Easter and the new creations that we are in Jesus Christ, our Lord.  We welcome any Lego creations along this theme as well.

In Minnesota it's currently 13 degrees with a healthy layer of snow on the ground. I'm hoping that by mid April the snow will be melted and we'll be close to packing away the winter gear! Our family will just be a couple weeks away from the end of our school year by then. Anticipation!

Gabe (9) MN, This bridge can be used for walking under or to go over a river. It has a walkie talkie that can call the life guards if someone is in trouble. There is a guy surfing in the water with a dolphin.

Lily (5) MN, My bridge is made to hold a life guard, she is watching to make sure he does not get hurt. The people have to pay money to cross the bridge. The money goes into the mailbox.

Quest #6 - Bridge

"Can you construct a bridge out of LEGO?

Your bridge may connect two structures, it might provide passage over a river or roadway. It might be scaffolding, a catwalk, a gangplank an arch, even a branch. The idea is, it reaches/spans/extends a distance.

Experiment with how long you can make this extention, while still keeping it stable. Also, try to see if your bridge can hold any weight. You can use coins, cars, LEGO men, whatever you like to place on your bridge to see if they can be held up.

Here are all the bridge designs kids from all over the world created for this challenge."

By Cole (11) and Grace (9), MN. This is a Buffer. They live in the Bermuda Triangle and eat fish and plants. They usually live for 37 years.

By Caeden, Age 9, WI, The Ant Fly. It lives in the crimson jungles of Muldoon. It eats leaves and transfers them into poison. The Ant Fly uses the poison to defend itself by squirting it out of its eyes when it is angered.

By Isaiah, Age 9, WI, The Gliding Beetle. It lives in the mountains on a little island named Neon. It eats lots of flies and other beetles. The Gliding Beetle catches air in the pockets on its wings to glide quickly through giant packs of flies. It sucks its food through the hole in its front.

By Micah, Age 12, WI, The Cave Crawler. It lives in the caves of the planet Evak. The Crawler eats small creatures that live in the cave and larger creatures that live outside of the cave. It sees through its glowing blue eyes. The Cave Crawler only leaves the caves at dark when it comes out to feed on the larger creatures. It feeds through its mouth located on its underside.

Quest #5 - A Creature

Challenge Number Five

"Design a creature.

A creature, is a living organism, generally the non-human kind. Insects, bugs, birds, animals, sea creatures, plants, fungus, micro-organisms, maybe even other worldly?

This creature can be something that already exists, or it can be something that you have just discovered. It can live on Earth, or a different planet.

What I would like to know is its habitat - the environment in which it lives. You can tell me anything about this creature to describe it, like its name, what it eats, etc. Share as much or as little information as you like.
